Habana at the Chicago Pipe Show in 2009
Russ, Bob and Jack pulled in thursday and got right to work seeing old friends, getting exhibitors lined up for our Northeast Pipe Show in November, but most importantly relaxing in the smoking tent at the resort.
Friday marked the pre show. Mostly vendors, some enthusiasts but generally a lot of handshaking and hugging. Bobby and I cut out had the local fav Italian Beef sandwich and went to the cubs game (they won). Wrigley was awesome. It is a cross between our Joe Bruno stad and Yankee Stadium.
We headed to the smoking tent. Hugged some people and of course had a few. I spoke quite a bit with a buddy of mine on a littany of legislative issues that concern us and in fact, the entire industry.
The best part of the show for me is to watch Russ interact with his peers. Russ is a rockstar and he is just plain old awesome. I am so proud of him and it truly is a pleasure to watch him be so happy.
After a couple of pops, we went to dinner with Eric from Cup o Joes (yes that’s right believe it or not we are friendly competitors), Peter Heeschen, Ken Lamb and someone else whose name escapes me. Great conversation, good food and fun.
Then back to the tent for more beers a smoke and a lot of conversation. We, after all, had a lot of issues to discuss. That’s all for now.
